Nicola’s energy journey…
When I started Emily’s Energise 1 to 1 Coaching Programme, I suspected that she would tell me to become more virtuous and ‘pure’ in my diet than I really want to be but I was also a life-long sufferer of low energy / energy slumps.
When Emily asked me what my energy goals would be, they were:
-to feel less lethargic
-to feel more positive
-to have a greater feeling of calm
Through the programme, Emily did a lot of listening and a little tweaking. I’ve said so many times since I started the programme, that I can’t believe what big effects these little changes have had on me.
Firstly, we looked at when my energy would dip in the day. This helped identify that it was the same time every day, so I could target that time specifically. A lot of what Emily did for me in our discussions was to make me more aware of my energy levels and the influences in it’s ups & downs. Thereafter we could devise a strategy to combat it. She would guide me with the strategy, but it wasn’t a 1-size fits all; it was entirely what worked for me and what would work for my lifestyle.

It was when she asked for a food diary that I thought ‘here comes the reduce sugar, drop caffeine’ advice, but rather than suggest I remove anything from my diet, she added. Her feedback was along the lines of add more good fats, add more leafy greens, add more iron. She gave me suggested meals to add to our frequent foods.
Emily encouraged a regular routine, starting with getting up at the same time every day; drink lots of water, eat the right food, exercise regularly, but one that had never been on my radar was to relax more. I allow my work and my homelife to get on top of me, which would trigger a big energy (and mood) slump. By taking myself to a quiet corner and relaxing for 15 minutes, I give myself the head room to think through what needs to be done, what problems need to be overcome and work out a strategy to do so.
I feel less lethargic, more positive and have a greater sense of calm.
Through this process, I have learnt how my energy levels affect my mental well being – by following Emily’s advice I feel less lethargic, more positive and have a greater sense of calm and with that comes a better feeling of contentment. I don’t have the feeling of being bogged down by the list of chores or jobs that need doing; I get them done quickly, leaving me time for more everything else!
I have just delivered a stressful job, but I feel as though I managed the stress better. I am motivated to exercise and am enjoying eating nutritious healthy food. Overall I have loved following the programme with Emily, and I love how it has left me feeling.
